Half of the AFC East Imploding

With the Dolphins and Jets seasons already in deep turmoil already on September 12th, it looks as though the 2019 season will be a two horse race in regards to the AFC East. But let’s be real, the Patriots have a shot of going 16-0, so Buffalo can keep their eyes on the Wild Card.

New England with the new acquisition of Antonio Brown is the team to beat in the NFL. It’s looking like Tom Brady and his stacked offense is the clear favorite to represent the AFC in Miami this February. When is Brady going to retire?

The Jets on the other hand just did the impossible. They lost a game in which they won the turnover battle 4-0. That does not happen. In fact their were 18 games in the 2018 season that the turnover battle was 4-0 and every single game was won by the team with 4 turnovers. They also did this against the Buffalo Bills after leading them by 13 points going into the 4th quarter. Josh Allen and the Bills came back and won that game 17-16, scoring a 38 yard touch down with 3 minutes remaining in the 4th. This was the first time the Bills won a game after trailing by 13+ points in the fourth quarter in over 20 years. I don’t know whether to throw this on the long awaited change by the Bills organization, or to throw it on the laughing stock that the New York Jets are.

To add onto the rough week one start, they will now have to roll scrubby Trevor Semien onto the field to play on Monday Night football in week 2. Sam Darnold will miss the next few games due to the mono. If Josh Allen ever misses a game because of this, I hope to God Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott cut him immediately. I had Mono when I was about 12 years old and let me tell you, it wasn’t that bad. I don’t think it kept me out of a recreational 12 and under soccer game. But congrats to Sam Darnold on kissing a girl right?

The Dolphins are just terrible. I don’t know that I can name 5 players on their team. They’re pretty disgusting. After losing 59-10 in their season opener to an average team (The Ravens), I’m not sure that they will win a game this year. It may take a little more than FitzMagic to get these guys to beat anybody this season.

I’m confident in my Buffalo Bills this season. Last year they had a top 5 defense and they just shut down the Jets in week 1. With an offense that looks improved and a somewhat easy schedule, they have a shot this year to do something I have never seen in my 21 years as a Bills fan. They play Eli Manning and the struggling Giants at Met Life Stadium this week.

So basically, the AFC East has one power house, a team that is pretty average, but has an easy schedule and two jokes. I think I’m having De Ja Vu.
